The Second Half of the 2009 Season

Ryan Howard hit his 200th home run on Thursday July 16th, while Raul Ibanez had a multi – home run game in the same game. Howard is the fastest player in MLB history to reach 200 home runs when, at his 658th game against the Marlins, he hit a solo – jack in the top of the sixth.
Here are the top 5 MLB teams at the break:

Record Winning Percentage
1) Los Angeles Dodgers 58 – 34  .630
2) Boston Red Sox 55 – 36 .604
3) New York Yankees 54 – 37 .593
4) Los Angeles Angels 52 – 38 .578
5) Philadelphia Philles 51 – 38 .573

Joe Mauer is still hitting strong with a .373 average, but he his probably not going to hit .400 this season.
Albert Pujols may have a 70+ home run season, but will definitely have a 60+ home run season.

My predictions are that the New York Yankees will be the American League Champions and Los Angeles Dodgers will be the National League Champions. They will meet up in the World Series where the New York Yankees will sweep the Los Angeles Dodgers in 4 games.

All - Star Week

Between Jonathan Sanchez throwing the first no-hitter of the season, and Jorge Posada telling Chone Figgins whose boss with a bare handed catch I can tell it is going to be a great 80th Summer classic.
The Home Run Derby is taking place on July 13th where Albert Pujols will be the probable winner.
The All – Star Game will take place on July 14th at Busch Stadium.
Here are the All – Star Game Starters.
